NATALIA AROS
CHILE
Natalia has a degree in Art from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), with studies in Developmental Psychology, Psychoplastics and Art Therapy from the same university.
He dedicated several years to work in the academy, being a teaching assistant in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the School of Art and the School of Psychology (PUC). These experiences have been closely linked to the research and creation of work, producing images from the relationship between art and psychology.
He has participated in national and international exhibitions; 5 solo and 11 group exhibitions. Also, in cultural projects of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage of Chile, and in publications in books, catalogues and international magazines. Among the most outstanding diffusions: Biennale di Firenze (Italy), Casa de la Cultura Diego Rivera (Chile), Parallax Art Fair Europe (London, UK) and the book Make The Cut Vol I: The World's Best Collage Artists.

My main visual references are Baskiat, Raushenberg, Matta, Balmes, Pollock, De Kooning, Rothko, T. Rosenberg, Haring, Mota, Shantell Martin and the psychology of C.G.Jung and art therapy theorists.
STATEMENT
The city leaves its memory on its walls; in layers, in spontaneous gestures that appear and disappear, in traces that dialogue, hide and rewrite themselves with the passage of time. My work appropriates this urban visuality, the chaos and superimposition of marks, to represent, symbolically and metaphorically, what happens in the human psyche.

Through different painting and drawing techniques, I use the flow of consciousness as a creative method, allowing the stain and the gesture to dialogue in a territory in constant transformation, where the visible and the hidden, the conscious and the unconscious, coexist in constant tension. In this way, I situate the work in a line that I have called Postvandalism, given that it is born from the need to reinterpret the shadow of the city, as the mirror of the depth of the human being.
